This smooth, creamy sinh to sapoche (sapodilla shake; 20,000 dong, or about $1.20 at the time) displayed the fruit's persimmonlike nature without the tannin. (Like persimmons, sapodillas are less tannic, and ready to eat, when very soft.) Tropicana also had a sparing but attractive array of fresh fruits to go, but the a display behind Cho Ben Thanh (bottom photo) showed the fruit to better advantage.
