Cambodian chow is so scarce in New York — Kampuchea Noodle Bar and Cambodian Cuisine in Manhattan, and the Battambang and Phnom Penh-Nha Trang markets in the Bronx, are the only venues that come quickly to mind — that when I spotted Angkor within eyeshot of my Providence, Rhode Island, lunch destination, I had to scoot across the street for a look. (He scoots all the time in New York, too, with much less prompting, my friends are murmuring to themselves.)
Angkor has won quite a few fans in the Ocean State, though I noted, with regret, that the menu makes no room for amok of any sort. Then again, if it did, I would have felt compelled to make room for a second lunch to chase down the first.
