The piecrusts are fantastic.
This buttery-sweet crust encased minced clam (small; about $10); milk crackers, potatoes, and onions likely figured in the filling, too. I regret not finding time for a chicken pie, but from the rotating daily lineup of a dozen of so sweet pies, blueberry-peach was wonderful (not shown; small; about $7). Also: Portuguese kale soup (below; about $10 per quart), loaded with linguica, kidney beans, and potatoes; spicy-sweet chili soup (not shown), built on plentiful shards of stew meat rather than ground chuck; and an overstuffed, parmesan-topped pepper ($9.95) that retained its crunch.
