Not a question I voiced aloud, but as I hemmed and hawed inside the Ferry Building, the counterman remarked that many customers enjoy the chewiness of Acme's sourdough cheese roll ($2.25). True for me, too, I discovered on the esplanade, but only after a flashback to my beachcombing days.
