For the third consecutive year, the United Nations Delegates Dining Room is presenting a buffet menu ($25, plus beverage, tax, and tip) focusing on the food of Malaysia. This year, the festival features the cuisines of the southern states of Johor and Negeri Sembilan. I visited last year's festival, featuring the state of Melaka, but I was also fortunate to attend an in-kitchen reception to sample this year's offerings. Standard buffet rules apply: The food is tamed for a general audience (ask for extra chili sauce on this side), and earlier arrivals can choose from a wider selection, both at the main buffet and at the dessert table.
To visit the delegates dining room, you'll need to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. Jacket required for men; no jeans or sneakers. Although the security screening is less onerous than at the airport, you'll also need a photo I.D.
