I saw it last in Bath Beach, at a bakery named for the capital of Azerbaijan. Gayana's owner hails from neighboring Georgia, but the same distinctively patterned half-moon rises in both countries; it's filled with a sweet paste made from walnuts ($1.50). On another occasion, plum strudel (sold by weight; a handful was $2.24) had a firmer than usual crust and moist, very fruity filling.
