Before now I'd never stopped at the Circle Dot, and I've never had a Roessler's, that I recall. In the 1940s, when this roadside stand likely was built, those hot dogs were so well known in Connecticut that the Circle Dot's owners featured the name in neon, larger than their own. In later years, after the Roessler's plant moved (reportedly) from New Haven to Norwich, Connecticut, then to Massachusetts — as of 2009, it seems to be out of business — the Circle Dot noted "Hummel dogs" on a sign by the service window. On that same sign, the "Inn" of "Drive Inn" might allude to the little Cape Cod (not shown) that also stands on this one-acre lot, though my impression is that the house served only as a residence for the owners. In either case, today the Circle Dot is just a drive-by.
