The red Mo Gridder's trailer is famously affiliated with an auto-repair business, so even when the weather doesn't welcome a seat in the small parking lot, you can park yourself in the "customer lounge." (A second, brick-and-mortar operation, shown at bottom, is slated to reopen in September.) Though ribs were the star of my two-meat combo (above; $12.95), I found the meat a tad tough, even if it tore free from the bones easily enough. I was much fonder of the supporting player, pulled pork tossed with red-pepper-laced rice and a few squirts of sauce; below, it makes an encore appearance on a sesame bun ($5).
Thanks to a German admirer, Mo Gridder's may be the only BBQ in New York where you can down Underberg, the digestif bitter; it's worth keeping in mind when your own engine is running a little hot.
