I passed up watermelon, papaya, and an oatmeal drink in hopes of ID'ing the melon in question, but through crossed signals found myself with a cup of piña (about 20 fl. oz; $2) that was sweeter and less tart than pineapple has any right to be. I didn't get a good photo of this Spanish-speaking vendor and her camo-patterned capri pants, but like the water-and-soda vendor below, she wheels a simple handcart across some of the most uneven, poorly maintained avenues in the city. After a good rain you could say, almost literally, that she navigates the streets.
