At Elliot's — which opened in 1920 and has been operated by the current family since the 1960s, with one short interruption — "the works" is a term of art that specifies mustard and relish. With the modest addition of onions, it's an "all-around." As for this deep-fried number, featuring the standard snappy Kayem frank (beef-and-pork, I believe) and a beautifully toasted white-bread bun, call it a "trailer dog" ($1.50).
