Some upsell was involved, of the best possible sort: I had three choices of fish, then five choices of cake.
Whiting was a relatively easy choice, over porgy and croaker; as prepared, it was the only fried fish free of bones (with mac 'n' cheese and string beans; $6). Cake was a matter of several minutes' deliberation; chocolate seemed to have had the most takers, while red velvet, carrot, and yellow cakes each had their charms. The winner was a moist wedge of walnut spice cake ($2), though one of the ladies kindly sent me on my way with a slice of the carrot, too.
