My can of Mountain Dew (12 fl. oz., 80 cents) was sweetened with cane sugar, not corn syrup, in keeping with a logo that dates to the late '40s or early '50s. (Look close and you can still find that old-school logo in New York.) According to the manager, this 60-year-old location was the first Krauszer's in a Jersey-Connecticut chain; it's the sort of shop that sells groceries and sundries, prepared food and athletic gear, though only for easygoing athletes. The building's draped eaves are surely a holdover from its earlier incarnation, as the Peter Krauszer dairy farm.
