Many cultures have delicious but messy ways of preparing balonglong, a far-flung fruit that travels under numerous names. For this napkin-free presentation (S$2, about US$1.50 at the time), leave it to ever-tidy Singapore. The single whole fruit, a lagniappe from the proprietor, was crisp and a tad tart; the juice was well-sugared.
