Passing this way four years earlier, I'd seen that the "pool room" was a going concern but thought the "restaurant" may have been scratched. When Baron Ambrosia confirmed that Nano was still a subterranean source of real cheap eats, I gave it another shot. This particular Tuesday afternoon the pool tables were quiet, and the short blackboard menu was missing the Dominican-style cerdo con molondrones — pork with okra — that the Baron had pegged as that day's special. No worries: A plate of pork on rice, with beans, and a side of chilled, beet-stained potato salad filled me up just fine ($7 all in).
Also shown: from my original sighting, an earlier sign largely obscured by a previous set of scaffolding; the doorway by night, on a rare occasion when no construction was under way.
