The combo of tripe and beans was 86'ed, but even in my usual fallback order of stew peas (small, $6.50), beans were what I found. In Jamaica, the namesake items are also called red peas; you probably recognize them as kidney beans. Typically these are stewed with salt beef and chopped pig's tail and served over white rice.
Note, too, the pale, elongated object that resembles a fingerling potato. In fact this was a dumpling, fashioned (like several of its hidden fellows) by rolling dough between two palms. In contrast to the texture of the other, long-cooked ingredients, these "spinners" offered a welcome chewiness.
