It's a family name, I was told at this summer's Grenada Day celebration, where West Cuisine's stall was one of the few with a commercially printed banner, and where its codfish, callaloo, and sliced "bake" (above) was high on our crew's list of favorites. Ultimately the banner pointed the way to a tiny East Flatbush storefront with perhaps six seats, a spillover crowd (at least on one sunny summer afternoon) on the sidewalk outside, and a constant ebb and flow of takeout customers.
Shown from a drop-by at the storefront itself: two small plates, one pairing provisions (mainly guineo) with a mix of smoked fish and salt fish, one a Sunday special of stewed pork and macaroni pie. With two astringent "bush teas" and a cupful of the thin porridge called tania log, $16 all told.
