Visions of the momo-scape.
For the price of a "momo map" (three bills of any denomination) and the opportunity cost of time standing on line (some 700-800 attendees overwhelmed 15 restaurants, storefronts, and mobile vendors), one-dollar Himalayan dumplings were the delight of the day. Shown: an undressed vegetable momo from the Potala Fresh Food cart; a beef momo with spicy radish from the Amdo Kitchen truck; Hamro Bhim's chicken momo (the yellowish sauce is tomato-based); Tashi Delek Momo's take on the same item, but with hot sauce; a beef momo from Dhaulagiri Kitchen, accompanied by some sort of pickled condiment; a fried beef momo from Lali Guras; leavings.
