Cakes are the stock in trade of Sprinkle Splash. This limber, or "tropical icy," a recent addition to the product line, is a remembrance by the New York-born proprietor of childhood visits to her grandmother in Puerto Rico. Limber closely resembles the helado sold by Mexican and Colombian sidewalk vendors in Queens. Perhaps it's a little chunkier, perhaps a shade more dense with flavor, or in the case of this piƱa colada limber ($2), both.
The wooden stick that serves as a handle, once you've warmed the limber between your hands to loosen it from the plastic go-cup, is neither universal nor essential. See this old-school approach from the Bronx.
