Lamb fat — skewered and seared, or minced with onion, then wrapped in dough that's baked or fried — is the eternal temptation at this expansive kosher restaurant. But even in Tajikistan, homeland of the owners, lamb is not the be-all and end-all. Order up a salad, or several: intensely carrotty morkovcha, olive-strewn Cheburechnaya salad, tomato-and-onion achikchuk. Palate refreshed, you'll find other carnivorous pleasures to consider. The beef skirt kebab, which I'd never tried until my most recent visit, is particularly juicy.
See the bounty of multiple meals over several years in this photo set.
