More than five dozen food stalls ringed the vast Canarsie Cricket Grounds, almost all of them devoted to the cuisine of a single small island. Many menus overlapped, but one offered a Bajan specialty that I'd never seen in Brooklyn: sea egg rice (first photo below), featuring the fried roe of sea urchins. (Compare the fish eggs of Barbados's island neighbor St. Lucia.) Another vendor distinguished itself with a display case of sticky, chewy coconut drops (second photo). I bought two, one on arrival, another on departure.
