Like the scribbled sign taped to the bin — in fact, like most everything on display at this old-school candy shop — my fruit bar was obviously fashioned by hand. The texture brought to mind candy slices, but chunky; the mishmash of flavors suggested a teetotaling Caribbean fruitcake.
