Doraon is the rare restaurant in New York that serves dak galbi, Korean spicy stir-fried chicken. The triple order shown above — bulked out by the pleasing contrast of sweet potato, and by rice cakes — took a seeming eternity to cook at the table. (Can't rush raw chicken.) While waiting, we had our way with seafood pancakes, buckwheat noodles, steamed egg, and various banchan.
When the chicken was finally ready, we dispatched it quickly but not completely. It's customary, for a small additional charge, to transform what's left into spicy stir-fried chicken rice (next three photos below), re-quickening the appetite. Ultimately we cleaned out the frying pan, but the tabletop we left a mess.
