Indian mee goreng are not native to South Asia. In Singapore and Malaysia, the invention of these fried wheat noodles is widely ascribed to immigrant street vendors, often Muslim, of Indian heritage. Ordered spicy, but could have been spicier; enjoyed in open air, yet under cover of the Bowery-Elizabeth St. arcade.
