I came across this stand on Labor Day, during a largely fruitless prowl of side streets near the customary site of the (cancelled) West Indian Day Parade. Jerk cookers were common, but in these parts that seems to be the case on any warm-weather weekend. This lady's display included paw paw (green papaya) balls, stewed tambran (tamarind), and mango chow — well-seasoned slices of golden fruit, crowded neatly into plastic bags, that somehow didn't squeeze into the picture, or my backpack.
